I loved the chemistry between Mara and Liam and I especially loved the way it played out towards the end, this one was a solid 9/10 for me.
Mara will live in the house for six months in order to get some money together and then move out but the book prologue is when those six months are up and……Mara does not want to go. She refuses Liam’s ever-growing offers and they bicker and argue until calling an uneasy truce. She sentimentally feels connected to her through it.
He also wants to buy her out but living rent free will give Mara a chance to save, get on her feet – and plus, this house is something her mentor gifted her. Liam works as a lawyer for I think, a big oil type company – the type of company that Mara would like to see shut down so she tends to see Liam at first as a soulless drone. Her mentor left her Washington house 50% to Mara, 50% to Liam (who was her nephew). I loved the dynamic between the two characters – Mara, an environmental engineer who has just gotten a job at the EPA, and Liam, the housemate she’s forced to have by the bizarre circumstances of her mentor’s will. And I read all 3 of these in one day because……it’s Ali Hazelwood. They were released in print bind up form in January of this year and I preordered it in December, however this has been my one Amazon fail in ordering books because they pushed my delivery date back twice and finally I cancelled it and just ended up buying it in person when I saw it in a store. Ok so I’ve wanted to read these 3 novellas since they were released (in February, March & April of last year) but I also freely admit that I didn’t want to pay $8 per each novella in eBook form.
